Why Pico Lasers and Q-Switched Laser are Not Contradictory 

Pico lasers and Q-switched lasers are not contradictory.  Rather, Pico laser technology is an advanced evolution of the traditional Q-switched laser. They share the same core goal of targeting pigment, but differ in how fast they deliver energy.

The PicoPretty, like many modern picosecond lasers, uses a specialized Q-switching or advanced electro-optic/mode-locked switching mechanism to achieve its ultra-short speeds. While traditional older Q-switched lasers operate in the nanosecond range, picosecond devices push this technology to be a thousand times faster, measuring in trillionths of a second.

• Picosecond Mode: Emits ultra-short pulses to shatter pigment and tattoo ink into minuscule particles. This requires fewer sessions and provides faster clearance than traditional lasers.
• Genesis Mode: Utilizes multiple pulses per cycle to release targeted total energy, providing deeper penetration for stubborn dermal plaques and deep tattoos.
